♦ The coast to the north of the city of Santander, recently converted into a natural park, is steep and rocky. On stormy days, the swell is a sight not to be missed.
San Vicente de la
Barquera
A fishing village par excellence located on the westernmost coast with anoutstanding monumental heritage.
♦San Vicente de la Barquera, a seaside town with its traditions, customs and popular festivals: La Folía (the multitudinous maritime procession of the Virgin Mary that takes place on the second Sunday after Easter) and the procession of Carmen (16 July).

A natural cavity in the rock, in which one of the most important pictorial and artisticcycles of prehistoric times is preserved
♦ Altamira Cave has the privilege of being the first place in the world where the existence of the Upper Palaeolithic Cave Art was identified and is declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

♦ The ski and mountain resort of Alto Campóo, with peaks of over 2,200 m and routes such as Pico Tres Mares, is considered one of the best in the Cantabrian Sea. It also has magnificent skiing facilities and an unrivalled landscape for mountain lovers.

Peña Cabarga
Possibly the most complete and interesting viewpoint in Cantabria
♦ On the top of Llen peak or Peña Cabarga, at an altitude of 568 metres. From there you have an exceptional view over the Bay of Santander and its surroundings, as well as the whole coast of Cantabria.
Castro Urdiales
One of the most beautiful and touristic towns in the region
♦ Castro Urdiales was part of the powerful brotherhood of the Four Villas of the Costa del Mar. Here the illustrious musician Ataulfo Argenta was born in 1913 and still possesses the delicate charm of a small fishing village.
Comillas
Declared a historical-artistic complex, it still conserves the aristocratic and stately character that has characterized it since ancient times.
♦ Comillas has a fine sandy beach close to the fishing port. Due to the ecological interest of its coast, it is included in the Oyambre Natural Park.
♦ It is a must to visit El Capricho, a modernist building designed in 1883 by Antonio Gaudí as an annex to the Sobrellano Palace. It is one of the few works that Gaudí designed outside Catalonia.
Santillana del Mar
It is known as the village of the three lies, since it is neither holy, nor flat, nor has the sea.
♦ Historical and artistic site of the western coast of Cantabria. A medieval village, it is considered one of the most precious treasures of the region.
Reinosa
Surrounded by high and beautiful mountains and far from the sea, it is the gateway to Castile in Cantabria
♦ From an artistic point of view, Reinosa is endowed with one of the best examples of Baroque in Cantabria, its church of San Sebastián.
♦ It is also very popular the area of the arcades, where you can taste the typical sweet of the city, known as pantortilla.

♦ It enjoys great relevance. The monastery of Santo Toribio was an important cultural and religious centre during the Middle Ages, where the Lignum Crucis is a place of pilgrimage.

♦ The second most visited Natural Park in Spain, after the Sierra Nevada, which presides over the region of Liébana.
Caballo Lighthouse
Step by step… but is worth seeing!
♦ In Santoña, 27 km from our Hotel, you can visit one of the most touristic places in the area.
♦ The lighthouse is on the cliff of Mount Buciero, at the entrance of the Santoña estuary and to reach it, you have to descend and then climb almost 700 steps.
