Cantabria is infinite: Discover its wonders

Cantabria extends far beyond what you can imagine. With more than five thousand square kilometres of all kinds of landscapes: coast, mountains, valleys and beaches.

Potes
Potes is surrounded by mountains and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, and it is not difficult to understand why. It is located in the heart of the Liébana region, at the confluence of the rivers Deva and Quiviesa.

Potes has a spectacular scenery in the background thanks to the crossing of the four valleys of the region and, in fact, the town is known as “the town of bridges”.

You can’t miss out on the Infantado Tower (now an exhibition centre) and the Orejón de la Lama Tower.

San Vicente de la Barquera
This fishing village is another of the idyllic villages of Cantabria. Many historians identify San Vicente with ancient Rome and place the Portus Vereasueca here, thanks to its strategic location next to a bay that forms a double arm of the sea.

San Vicente de la Barquera will surprise you with its beaches: including Fuentes, Primera de San Vicente, El Rosal, El Tostadero, Merón and Gerra; all of them surrounded by stunning scenery. As for its monuments, the church of Santa María de los Ángeles stands out. In addition, the Old Town of the village was declared a Historic-Artistic Site, where the 13th-century Castillo del Rey (King’s Castle) and the Torre del Preboste (Provost’s Tower) are located.

Comillas
Comillas, located on the western coast of Cantabria and declared a Historic-Artistic Site, is one of the most beautiful places in Spain and a destination not to be missed. Its first inhabitants left cave paintings in the caves of La Meaza, which date back 14,000 years.

In the centre of the village you will find a cemetery, presided over by the famous modernist sculpture by Llimona: “El Ángel”. Although Comillas only has one beach, the nearby municipalities have some of the most famous beaches in the region, such as Oyambre Beach, which is part of the Oyambre Nature Reserve.

Suances
Suances is the end point of the Roman road that linked the plateau with the coast. It is divided into two areas: the coastal area and the traditional highland area. You cannot leave Suances without visiting places such as the Mirador de Quinta del Amo, the historic centre with the Suances Town Hall and the Church of Nuestra Señora de las Lindes. You can also enjoy the Playa de la Tablia beach, an unspoilt beach, and the Playa del Sable beach, surrounded by the Torre de San Telmo tower.
